Development History of Plastic Extrusion Technology

Update Time:2022-06-07 01:56:00

Plastic extrusion is a mass manufacturing process in which raw materials are melted and contoured continuously. Extrusion production such as pipes/pipes, weather stripping, fencing, deck railings, window frames, plastic film and sheets, thermoplastic coatings and wire insulation projects. The first precursor to modern extruders was developed in the early 19th century.

In 1820, Thomas Hancock invented rubber "chewing" in order to recover the treated rubber waste. In 1836, Edwin Chaffey developed a mixing additive for twin rollers to make rubber. The first thermoplastic extrusion was in 1935 by Paul TROESTER and his wife Ashley Gershoff in Hamburg, Germany.

Soon after, Roberto Colombo of LMP developed the first twin-screw extruder in Italy. In plastic extrusion, the material of the raw material compound in the form of beads (usually called resins in industry) is gravity fed into the barrel of the extruder from the top hopper. Additives such as colorants and ultraviolet inhibitors (whether in liquid or granular form) are usually used to mix resins before they can be mixed into hoppers. This method has many things in common from the point injection of extruder technology, although it is different, it is usually a continuous process.

Pultrusion, on the other hand, can provide many similar visits at continuous lengths, usually with additional reinforcements, which are achieved by pulling the finished product out of the die rather than by extruding the polymer melt through the die.
